Waymark Project

Questions

Frequently asked

Can I download and share these books?

Yes. Every book in the catalog was published in 1930 or earlier and is in the public domain in the United States. The authors died long enough ago that the works are also out of copyright in Bangladesh and India. Some scans carry a library watermark, so credit the library that scanned them.

Which books are hosted here, and which link out?

Every Internet Archive book in the catalog has a copy hosted here as PDF files, and the five Reading room works are hosted too. Large books are split into parts of about 25 MB or less. The five Project Gutenberg entries are ebooks, so their titles link to Gutenberg. For hosted books each card names its original source (the Internet Archive item) in plain text, and you can search for that item there if you want the full-resolution scan.

Why are some family papers closed?

Unpublished letters and diaries belong to the writer's heirs, and they can mention people who are still alive. We list them so researchers know they exist, and open them only with the family's approval.

Can you fix my birth certificate or NID for me?

No. We are volunteers, not lawyers or agents, and we never handle fees or original documents. We can point you to the right office and explain the terms on an old record.

Is this a registered charity?

Not yet. Waymark Project is an independent, volunteer-run project. We don't accept donations, and nothing given to us is tax-deductible.

Who runs this, and can I check their background?

One volunteer, Areeb Uzzaman. His credentials and past work are on his portfolio, and the method and corrections log show how entries are checked and fixed.

I found a mistake in a catalog card.

Thank you. Write to us with the call number on the card and we will correct it.
